I had the strangest dream last night. I actually dreamed about someone from my past. Someone I hadn't thought about in a long time. It's strange how things like that can end up in dreams. Memories that you haven't allowed any space for in years surface in a dream and you begin to question things all over again. This is SO old that there is no way it can be revisited now. Time has made that impossible. It's strange how regret can follow you into your dreams years later.

Today I had the day off because I had a Dentist appointment. Not very exciting. I don't like the dentist. Well really I don't have anything against my dentist except that he is a dentist. He's a really great guy but I hate the experience of being at the dentist. Not as much as I hate the doctor though!

In the afternoon I took my Grandfather to get the new stickers for his license plates. He turned 84 and now of course his license is up for renewal which means he has to go for retesting. If he passes all the tests he gets to keep his license and if he doesn't he loses his independence. I understand why he's gotten so upset about this. His car is his means of getting around. My Grandmother can't drive so if he has no license than they are stranded. Our family will help them out if it comes to that but I know that isn't the same as being able to come and go as you please. He's going to give himself an ulcer worrying about it though and he doesn't have enough stomach left for that.

I went out with Eyrin after the licensing adventure. She had promised her friend Jenny that she would go out and help her with her renovations. Jenny and her husband Clayton bought the Sunshine Tavern a while back because it was an ideal place for their business. They teach canoeing and Kayaking and do dogsledding in the winter.

The tavern is VERY old and in need of a great deal of repair! I had never been inside it before. They have a kitchen and sitting area, a bathroom and bedroom as their living space. The rest of the upstairs was a hotel. There are four or five rooms that really need renovation. The floor is sunk in many places and the roof also leaks in a lot of places.

So Eyrin, Jenny and I spent a couple of hours ripping drywall off to reveal the wood panelling underneath. This was actually real wood panelling and not Finnish wallpaper (as Jason would call it).

Eyrin got a kick out of the wallpaper on the wall which was some old patterned stuff with this maid wearing a fancy dress and holding a fruit basket with some farmer guy standing next to her. Eyrin made jokes about it saying the man was molesting her and I just said that he was trying to take fruit from her fruitbasket and of course Eyrin laughed even harder!

The evening ended off with us having dinner at Boston pizza. Eyrin decided that since I want to lose huge amounts of weight before summer that it was going to become her mission to help me. So she told me that she could have me lose 10 pounds after six weeks. We'll see what happens since I told her I didn't want to take up running.

I got the go ahead to apply for teaching jobs in Newfoundland. Now if there were only any jobs open!

Back to work tomorrow. Let's hope the day is bearable.
